Art Corner: Special Events
"Paper Flowers" with Heidi Guy New Horizons hosts various artists at the Center throughout the year, both in person and on Zoom. Expand your knowledge and indulge in fun projects you can keep forever. You never know what--or who--the Center might be hosting next! Next Session: April 2025: "Paper Flowers" with Heidi Guy Artist Heidi Guy comes to New Horizons to demonstrate how to create beautiful bouquets of paper flowers. Learn how to make daffodils, lilies, and hydrangeas, and then form your individual flowers into a stunning masterpiece for your table. All materials are provided for in this FREE workshop. Come early and enjoy a delicious Pepper, Onion and Cheese Omelet, served at 12 Noon. "Finding Joy in the Moment" with Rachel Hykel, MS Ed, MPH Various artists offer strategies and ideas to use the creative medium to promote a healthy attitude and strengthen one's body and mind. Last Session: December 2024: "Finding Joy in the Moment" with Rachel Hykel, MS Ed, MPH Rachel Hykel teaches how to use art as a strategy to find joy in your everyday life. Join others in this unique experience. First, discuss strategies to find joy in the moment. Then, make a collage representing your hopes and dreams. Seasonal Collages with Linda Dubin:
"Winter Holiday" Artist Linda Dubin comes to New Horizons throughout the year to teach how to create mixed-media collages that capture the spirit of the current season. All materials are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own photos, natural materials, and other mementos of the season if they wish. Last Session: December 2024: "Winter Holiday" Combine all the different aspects of Winter together in your own unique creations! Leaves, Pinecones, Photos and more! Indulge in the memories of the season while making something fit to add to your holiday décor. All materials provided for this FREE Workshop, but you can bring your own items to add to your masterpiece if you wish. Come back in Spring 2025 for the next seasonal collage! "Skies!" (April) Award winning artist Carol Kardon comes monthly to New Horizons to teach introductory techniques to create beautiful watercolor paintings. Join other art enthusiasts and make your own unique creation under the guidance of a master at her craft. Carol offers simple tips and teaches easy tricks to help make your painting come alive in a fun and unique way. All materials are provided for in this FREE workshop. Learn how to depict a unique sky for your paintings, whether you wish to add clouds, paint a rainy day, or just explore the various colors of nature.
