Art Corner: Special Events
November 2025 Mosaics w/ Griswold Homecare Services New Horizons hosts various artists at the Center throughout the year, both in person and on Zoom. Expand your knowledge and indulge in fun projects you can keep forever. You never know what--or who--the Center might be hosting next! Last Session: November 19, 2025: Mosaics with Griswold Homecare Services: Experts from Griswold Homecare Services come to New Horizons to teach interested individuals how to make unique mosaics to display in your home. Learn how to make small frames with mosaic tiles, glass pieces, and beads. All materials are provided in this FREE Workshop, or if you prefer, you can bring your old China plates to break into pieces to include in your masterpieces. December 2025 New Horizons Program Director and Artist Judy Ringold teaches various fun projects throughout the year. Come to the Center and indulge your inner artist with this talented instructor. Next Session: December 16, 2025: "Marbleized Paper - Holiday Cards and Ornaments": Join artist and New Horizons Program Director Judy Ringold to learn how to create unique holiday items out of marbleized paper. Judy will first demonstrate how to create the special paper and then show to make bookmarks, cards, and ornaments fit to become a part of the holiday tradition for years to come. All materials are provided for this FREE workshop. Just come and have fun! Spaces are limited, so please register by December 12. Optional Lunch: Baked Fish w/ Lemon and Capers. About the Presenter: Kiarra Williams is an art therapist at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia, where she spent the past three years helping adults and youth express themselves through creativity. She uses a wide range of art materials to make session welcoming and accessible for everyone, including those with physical or learning differences. Kiarra also partners with JFCS programs and community groups to bring art therapy to life, in person and online, helping people heal, grow, and connect through the creative process.

Next Session: January 2026: "Seasons of Change" with Kiarra Williams New Horizons is offering a FREE Workshop in collaboration with our partner, JFCS. Held at the Barbara and Harvey Brodsky Enrichment Center in Bala Cynwyd, “Seasons of Change” is a warm, creative space for adults 60 years and older to explore life’s transitions through art. The group uses guided art-making to reflect on the paths we’ve walked, navigate the uncertainties of change, and imagine the possibilities ahead. Paint Your Own Ceramics
with the MudRoom Studio: November 2025 "Autumn Holidays" The professionals at the MudRoom Studio come to New Horizons at various times a year to provide interested Seniors an opportunity to indulge their inner artist and paint unique ceramic items fit to adorn the home. Whether it’s bowls for the display cabinet or decorations for the current holiday, the MudRoom and New Horizons have what you need. All materials are provided in this FREE workshop -- pottery, brushes, glazes, stencils. No experience or special skills needed. Just bring your imagination and a sense of fun! Last Session: October 2025: "Autumn Holidays" Paint a spooky jack-o-lantern for your front porch or a cute pumpkin for the kitchen table. Or, if you're feeling in the mood, get a jumpstart on the November decorating and paint a friendly turkey instead. Seasonal Collages with Linda Dubin:
June 2025 "Summer Memories" Artist Linda Dubin Garfield comes to New Horizons throughout the year to teach how to create mixed-media collages that capture the spirit of the current season. All materials are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own photos, natural materials, and other mementos of the season if they wish. Last Session: June 2025: "Summer Memories" Leaves, Ribbons, Photos and more! Join artist Linda Dubin Garfield for a mixed media workshop reflecting on the Summer Season. Indulge in the memories of Summers past while making something fit to add to your home décor. January 2026 "Figures" with Artist Reda Scher Artist Reda Scher offers her expertise in, and love of, drawing to any interested participants. Join her and learn how to expand a hobby of doodling to something more. All materials provided in this FREE Monthly Workshop. No experience needed, just bring your creative mind and prepare to be amazed at what your sketches can become!
