Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program
April - June 2026 with a Certified Instructor from the MontCo Department of Health and Human Services Arthritis is a major issue for many older adults. The condition causes pain, stiffness, and general fatigue, leading to feelings of resignation and self-doubt as it becomes harder and harder for a person to perform basic daily activities, let alone participate in one’s favorite hobbies. But Arthritis does not have to be as debilitating as it first appears. Beginning in April, New Horizons will host a FREE exercise program designed to teach about Arthritis and offer simple techniques to combat this insidious condition and gain back some control over your life. Open to anyone 60 years and older, the “Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program” is an 11-week low-impact recreational program that incorporates an educational component. Join us to learn how to improve functional abilities, self-confidence, and self-care, while also gaining extra mobility, muscle strength, and coordination, with the eventual goal of reducing the ever-present fatigue, pain, and stiffness. Classes consist of multiple exercise activities and breathing techniques as well as basic knowledge about Arthritis itself. An optional lunch is offered at Noon each Wednesday before the workshop. A Matter of Balance
June - July 2026 with a Certified Instructor from Main Line Health Are you worried about falling? Do you avoid participating in programs because you fear losing your balance at the worst possible time? Have you started seeing various rooms in your house as death traps just waiting to be sprung? You’re not alone. Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their favorite activities as a result. But the fear of falling does not have to become overwhelming. There are simple tricks and routines that can help to improve one’s balance and decrease the risk of falls in your everyday activities. Beginning in February, Main Line Health will hold a FREE fall prevention workshop at New Horizons for anyone who wishes to attend. Open to anyone 60 years and older, “A Matter of Balance” is an award-winning 8-week program devoted to teaching how to manage falls and increase activities. Join us to learn simple exercise techniques designed to increase strength and balance, learn what needs to be done to make your home safe again, and receive tips on how to start to view fall risk as controllable rather than terrifying. Free fall prevention items are available to every participant and an optional lunch is offered at Noon each Tuesday before the workshop. Healthy Steps in Motion
April - June 2025 with Dawn Batman, Certified Instructor Open to anyone 60 years of age or older, this 8 week course focuses on improving balance, increasing flexibility and building body strength. Participants engage in an hour long class each week, beginning with a warm-up, continuing with specific exercises for the week, and ending with a cooldown. The class is led by Dawn Batman, a certified instructor from the Montgomery County Office of Aging Services. Please register by Wednesday, April 23, in order to ensure that you have a spot in the program! (Come early and enjoy a tasty Lunch, served at 12 Noon. ($2 Suggested Donation for Lunch, please register for each meal at least one week in advance) In Person at Narberth Borough Hall ONLY

T'ai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention
April - June 2024 with Rosalie Pressman, Certified T'ai Chi Instructor Join Rosalie Pressman, certified T'ai Chi Instructor, in a special 8-week T'ai Chi class. The class is designed to support joints, to help improve strength, flexibility and balance, and to reduce pain, stiffness, and the risk of falls. Learn this daily healing practice that helps in the overall function of your heart, lungs and muscles, and helps with relaxation, vitality, posture, and immunity.
