Everything You Always Wanted to Know about HomeCare Services with TruVine HomeCare Services New Horizons hosts various presenters at the Center focused on offering tips for healthy living, both in person and on Zoom. Guests offer guidance on topics ranging from healthcare advice to the benefits of nutritional smoothies. Check back often, as the topics are always changing! Last Session: January 2025: "Everything You Always Wanted to Know about HomeCare Services" Representatives from TruVine HomeCare Services come to New Horizons to offer in-depth advice on how to set up and maintain a care service in your home for yourself and/or a loved one. Learn the steps needed, and hear about some useful tips and trick that will help you to find the right care service while avoiding all the pitfalls along the way. Bring your questions! "Live to 100 -- Secrets of the Blue Zones, Part III" hosted by Ellensue Jacobson Different speakers and presenters offer insight on how to handle the changes in the body as we grow older. Learn about the varying concerns aging can cause, and hear the latest advice on how to address these issues. Last Session: January 2025: "Secrets of the Blue Zones, Part IV": Join Ellensue Jacobson and the New Horizons Film Club for this special Health Lecture through film. View the final part of “Live to 100 -- Secrets of the Blue Zones” as narrator Dan Buettner travels to Singapore to check out one last long-lived community, then returns to the United States to discuss his findings. At the end of his incredible journey, Dan offers his own thoughts on how to create a Blue Zone right at home, despite -- or perhaps in support of -- this rapidly changing world. After the film, you can participate in a discussion where Ellensue will talk about the food and other lifestyle strategies to long life, and even share a taste of The Blue Zone diet. Finding Joy in the Moment with Rachel Hykel, MS Ed, MPH Different speakers and presenters offer insight on how to address the ways our mind changes as we grow older. Join other interested participants to learn simple tips and tricks to strengthen your mind and memories as you age. Last Session: December 2024: "Finding Joy in the Moment" "Finding joy in the moment" means actively focusing on and appreciating the small (or not so small) positive experiences happening right now, rather than getting caught up in worries about the future or dwelling on past events. It's about being fully present and savoring the little things in life, like the warmth of sunlight on your skin, a conversation with a friend, or the beauty of nature around you. Rachel Hykel teaches how to use art as a strategy to find joy in your everyday life. Join others in this unique experience. First, discuss strategies to find joy in the moment. Then, make a collage representing your hopes and dreams. All materials are provided for use during this special FREE Workshop, but you can bring your own items if you prefer. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention with Rosalie Pressman, Certified Tai Chi Instructor Various experts in the medical field offer their knowledge on Zoom and In Person at Narberth Borough Hall over a period of several weeks. Learn about new Tai Chi techniques, recommended exercise routines, and more! Last Session: April - June 2024: Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Join Rosalie Pressman, certified Tai Chi Instructor, in a special 8-week Tai Chi class. The class is designed to support joints, to help improve strength, flexibility and balance, and to reduce pain, stiffness, and the risk of falls. Learn this daily healing practice that helps in the overall function of your heart, lungs and muscles, and helps with relaxation, vitality, posture, and immunity.
